Photographer Yuri Molodkovets is author of "The Hermitage cats" project. Four-legged models were photographed on weekends of the museum. January 11th a new space "Cat’s Republic " was opened on Liteyniy Avenue. About forty animals from city shelters live here. Half of the cats moved from the basements of the Hermitage. Next to the " Cat’s Republic" exhibition of works by the Hermitage photographer Yuri Molodkovets decorates the street. The artist photographed the cats in the halls of the Winter Palace for several years. The work took place on Mondays, when the museum is closed to visitors. It took the artist a day to take photos of one model. Veterinarian of the Hermitage Anna Kondratiev is the founder of "Cat’s Republic " She is familiar with all the cats, which are on the portraits of the exhibition.
