Skeletons of St. Petersburg builders were found.17.04.2015

In February 2014 on the Petrograd side scientists have discovered 253 skeletons of people buried at the beginning of the XVIII century. Together with the skeletons archaeologists found wooden buildings and structures of XVIII-XIX centuries, fragments of cobblestone paving, household items.

For six months experts worked with the findings, it revealed the secret construction of the city: it was built not  by Swedes or Finns prisoners, but Russian peasants and local tribes (Karelia, Izhora).

All 253 people (men only) were buried at the same time in three large pits.

The study of lifetime traumas showed that these people had no damage, like soldiers in combat or serious illnesses that mark bones. Perhaps they died because of hunger, cold and diseases that occur quickly.
