The work by the famous supremacist was sold at Sotheby's and now goes to the Northern capital from a private collection.

St. Petersburg will get a chance to see the painting by Kazimir Malevich "Head of a Peasant", which was sold last year at Sotheby's for 3.5 million pounds.

The exhibition will last for only 4 days, from 25 to 28 April. "Head of a Peasant" is insured for this period. It will be protected very reliable.

"Head of a Peasant" is a study for the monumental painting by the artist "Peasant funerals." The canvas was exhibited only once - in Berlin in 1927. Later the picture got lost, now it’s trace is not known. In fact "Head of a Peasant" is the only thing that is left after the monumental canvas.

Malevich presented the "Head of a Peasant" to his friend, the architect Hugo Hering. The sketch was kept in the house of Hering’s wife, a famous German actress Roma Ban up to last year's sale at the auction.

Virtually Russian museums don’t have early figurative works by Malevich, as "Head of a Peasant".
