The Hermitage of St. Petersburg has opened an exhibition of the world famous Belgian artist.22.10.2016

The State Hermitage Museum opened the exhibition of contemporary Flemish artist Jan Fabre called "Knight of despair - a warrior of beauty". The works by masters widely used skeletons and stuffed animals, as well as shells of beetles and turtles. There are also other unusual materials for artists - for example, an ink of disposable ballpoint pen BIC or conventional buttons. The Hermitage is ready to the fact that the exhibition will arouse great interest and much controversy. Fabre is regarded as one of the leading contemporary artists in the world. Therefore, the State Hermitage decided on a bold experiment: works by Fabre are placed next to the classic Flemish painting. It took the Hermitage together with Jan Fabre two years to prepare this exhibition. In summer, the artist came to St. Petersburg and in knightly armor roamed the halls of the Hermitage. From these adventures it turned out performance, which can also be seen at the exhibition in the Knights' Hall. Fabre explained that none of the animals were not killed for the purpose of being exposed as an object of art.
