Restoration of Prince Vladimir Cathedral.18.12.2015

Prince Vladimir Cathedral - one of a few churches in Russia, where the services have never been interrupted for 225 years of its history. In the year the cathedral was being restored, but the services were held too. On Thursday, December 17, six hand-forged restored crosses came back to the original location - on the domes of Prince Vladimir Cathedral. They were under the restoration for almost half a year. The crosses were made in 1766 on the project by architect Antonio Rinaldi. It is their first restoration. All crosses were covered with copper and gilded with old technology during the restoration. To do the work it took 560 grams of heavy gold. Everybody is welcome to book a tour of St. Petersburg with j-travel-spb.
