Tour description (the total duration 21,5 hours)
During the first tour day (the duration 7,5 hours) You drive by or make photo stops, depending on your itinerary, at the most beautiful sights of the city (Sphinxes, Spit of Bazil Island, Rostral Columns, Log cabin of Peter I, Cruiser “Aurora“, Trinity bridge, Smolny Convent, Summer garden, Field of Mars, Michael’s castle, Church on Spilled Blood, Nevsky prospect, monument to Catherine the Great, Alexandrinskij theater, Rossi street, Square of Arts, Russian museum, St. Isaac’s cathedral, monument to Nicholas I, Mariinskij Palace, St. Nicholas Cathedral, Mariinsky Theatre, Yusupov's Palace, Decembrists Square, monument to Peter I ( Bronze Horseman), Admiralty, Palace Square, Alexander Column, General Headquartes, Winter Palace (Hermitage museum), Palace bridge).
Visit inside some of unusual subway stations, that are nicknamed the underground palaces, take a short ride .
You visit inside Peter and Paul Fortress, the first structure of St.- Petersburg. The foundation stone was laid by Peter I himself on May 16, 1703. Visit Peter and Paul Cathedral, the burial place of Russian tsars from Peter I to the last Russian Tsar, Nicholas I and his family. Its golden spire is the symbol of the modern city.
Visit inside the Church of Redemption or the Holy Savior on the Spilled Blood. A place where the Russian Tsar, Alexander II, was mortally wounded and his blood was spilled in 1881. Later, his son, Alexander III, ordered to build this unusual church in honor of Alexander II. It is beautifully decorated with mosaics.
After lunch visit inside the Russian Museum. The Mikhail’s Palace was turned into the Museum in 1898 by Nicholas II. This is the biggest museum of Russian art, contains more 450 thousand works. The large collection of icons, dating from the 11th century. Several works by one of the most famous Moscow School’s iconographers (Andrei Rublev). Works by Ilya Repin, Dmitry Levitsky, Ivan Aivazovsky, Karl Bryullov, Mikhail Vrubel, Kazimir Malevich, decorative-applied art, sculpture and more.
During the second tour day (the duration 7,5 hours) You take a hydrofoil to sail to Peterhof. The hydrofoil is the speed boat. It takes You about half an hour to get form St.- Petersburg to Peterhof.
Visit the Peterhof's Fountain Park and walk through the fountains, which are called “Russian Versailles”. Beautiful fountains were created on the order of Peter the Great in imitation of the French fountains of Versailles.
After lunch visit inside the summer residence of the Russian tsars - Catherine’s Palace in the Russian baroque style, which is quite impressive with its size. It was completed during the reign of Empress Elizabeth (daughter of Peter I) in 1756 and named after her mother – Catherine I. The Palace is famous for the Amber Room. The Prussian king, Friedrich I, presented the 22 amber panels to Peter I in 1716. Walk through the French regular Catherine’s Park.
During the third tour day (the duration 6,5 hours) You walk along Nevsky Prospect, the main thoroughfare of the city with various shops, cafes and restaurants.
You take the boat trip, which is 1-hour excursion. View the streets, beautiful mansions, architectural ensembles, squares and palaces of St.- Petersburg from the water angle. The city has more than 80 rivers, canals and ponds, more than 600 bridges together with the suburbs. You sail along the rivers and canals under a variety of fabulous bridges.
Visit inside St. Isaac's Cathedral, which is the fourth tallest cupola construction of the world. Famous French architect Montferrand designed this magnificent church. It took 40 years to be built. Since 1858 the church used to be the principal cathedral of St.-Petersburg until the Revolution. In 1931 it was turned into a museum.
After lunch You visit inside the Hermitage Museum, which is the largest museum of art in Russia. It numbers more 3 million works of art, representing different countries, people and ages. The museum consists of 5 buildings connected by the passages (The Winter Palace, the Little Hermitage, the Old Hermitage, the New Hermitage, the Hermitage Theater). Through the passages You take a walk through all the buildings. Have a look at some of state rooms of the Winter Palace, the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael's Loggias, the works
